Making ends meet is difficult under the best of circumstances but given his time constraints (needing to be available to care for his wife, dealing with insurances, doctors, and pharmacies, driving his wife to appointments in the city, and with 2 young children who need care, shuttling to and from school, etc.) this is a much more difficult task. In addition to the regular household expenses is the high cost of medical care (treatments, medications, travel, etc.).
The latest treatment, while bi-weekly, leaves her completely void of strength for even the basic of activities, leaving her practically bed ridden for a few days after.Īll through this, our son has only been able to work part time, due to the needs of the household. In addition, the treatment she has been receiving for the past year or so, has stopped working. This was until approximately 6 months ago, when she stopped working altogether. During this time, she has been working minimally between treatments, when she had the strength. She has been undergoing different treatments since then, each working only for a few months, and then a new course of treatment is needed. We are, therefore, turning to anyone with a kind heart to please donate anything they can to help alleviate some of the burden.Ībout 1 1/2 years ago, our daughter-in-law was diagnosed with a recurrence of metastatic cancer (stage IV). However, with the costs as they are now, that money will run out fast. With Hashem's help, we have been able to raise some money to help them cover their bills for the last few weeks. We have reached out to multiple organizations, who have been providing financial and supportive services but as wonderful and helpful as they are, it only covers a portion of the overall costs.

Each doctor's visit has started to cost us an additional $1300 weekly plus the co-pays for all the new chemo drugs which she is currently taking. Up until now, while the medical bills have been expensive, our family has been able to step in and cover the out of pocket expenses. Her oncologist has put her on a new course of treatment to help slow the progression of the disease. She has been battling for the past 4 years going thru multiple procedures, surgery and numerous rounds of chemo and radiation. Several months ago, we received the news that the cancer has metastasized and that the current treatment has not been working. A published author, lifelong learner, and dedicated educator, he has taught and guided students young and old for over 25 years. Our daughter-in-law, a mother to two young children ages 7 and 5, was diagnosed with cancer a bit more than 4 years ago at the age of 26.
